The hotel is right in the centre of the medina, which sould be a bit weird for some, but very convenient. The rooms are big and very traditional. The man at the reception when we first arrived was very nice and explained everything to us and the night receptionist was a very sweet and nice man. We had our dinner at the restaurant Fassi in the centre that they suggested, and the food was very good. The view from the terrace is really good. The breakfast very nice and also traditional. Would definitely recommend it!
Not much wrong with it. The beds are a bit hard and there are loads of steps to get to the room, but that's something usual for riads i guess. Also, be prepared to get a sudden awakening in the middle of the night as it is prayer time for the people there, and the mosquee is right next to the hotel, so you can hear the whole ritual straight through the windows. People say it's dump and stuff, but i don't think you could get anything better in a riad right in the middle of the medina.
Before travelling we had read online that it is a must to stay in a Riad in Morocco instead of a hotel. We were very pleased, especially with Riad Hala. Because most of them have no more than 5 to 8 rooms, you get a lot of personal care. The owner and staff at Riad Hala is very professional, attentive and friendly. We were quite pleased with the meals at Riad Hala. They have an excellent cook and the presentation of the dining area and meals were excellent. We would recommend anyone to stay there.
the staff was very friendly. The location is very good, near to the Blue Gate (Bab Boujloud) and in the Medina.
our bathroom had a door of only 1.60 m high. This was a bit inconvenient. The mosq close to the Riad starts at 4.30 am so expect a early wake-up.
Very central for the medina, on the main street so not so difficult to find
Small dark room, very low ceiling in bathroom
Amazing riad, beautiful terrace, the breakfast was diversified, good location, attentive staff, even a little pricier for Morocco, still worth the money, the riad's decorations are really pure art.
This riad was right in the medina so well positioned for lots of action. The breakfast was Moroccan in content and very good. There were stunning views of Fez from the rooftop terrace.
We had to carry our luggage up 4 flights up very narrow , rickety stairs. The bathroom needed some repairs.
The hotel was beautiful, with big rooms, very quiet, even while it was in the Medina, off a busy street. The breakfast was big, which was a good start for sightseeing in and around Fez. Water pressure and temperature in the modern bathroom was excellent. I would definitely go here again and recommend it to people.
Our room opened into the courtyard which doubled as a breakfast-room. We got woken up once or twice because of that. Not a big problem, 8.30 is a good time to get up on a city trip. But for this reason it would be better if they did not offer breakfast before the official 8.30 start, which happened one morning. One very minor complaint, replacing the barely used little pieces of guest-soap every day seemed like a waste. And the last one; our room had 4 "closets" in the wall (with beautifully carved doors) but they opened up to bare mouldy smelling spaces, so not to be used for putting your clothes in. These were all minor things and didn't prevent us from enjoying our stay at this Riad greatly.
Hospitality, location, friendliness, authentic decor
Breakfast is excellent. The reception is willing to help everything such as booking a one day tourguide and recommend restaurants.
Without map and guides, it is a litte hard to find the location
Very warm and friendly staff that went out of there way to make our stay in Fes enjoyable. They even organised a taxi to pick us up at 2am in the morning as our train was arriving from Marrakech. The duty manager let us in around 3am and was fine about it. Very appreciative. Fantastic location and very nice breakfast!!
Very nice staff, great location, free wifi in public areas, awesome terrace. Easy to find in the Medina (once you have orientated yourself). Airport pickup $15 euro but worth it if arriving late at night. Very close to Blue gate, restaurants, fruit market. Top of Medina hill so follow either main streets uphill and you'll get back to the Riad, or close enough to find your way.
Bit of a smell that grew during morning, but like all authentic Riads, a very old house, so understandable. It went away quickly after the meticulous daily clean.
Location and proximity to restuarants and souqs/medina was good. The size of the bath tub was great. Tea and biscuits on arrival was appreciated. Breakfast was great. Staff were very attentive.... especially appreciated when one of us was sick. Rooftop terrace provided a great city view.
The transfer from the train station was expensive and unnecessarily complicated. Computer with internet open for guest's use would be handy.
The Riad is inside the Medina, perfect to have a round of the ancient part of the city, the staff is very kind, and the breakfast is very good. The Riad is fantastic, with a marvellous maroccan style, and a beautiful terrace over the medina.
The room I get, the Suite Hala, is not a suite, is just a normal room for 2 person at the ground floor. was not nice to weak up with the noise of people outside the door having breakfast in the patio.
Really good rooms hidden away providing an oasis of calm
Too small for the toilet. It's not suitable and comfortable at all. Has a bad smell in toilet.
